Part Time Therapeutic Respite Support Worker- Children and Youth Services

Bethesda’s Children’s Services Department requires Part Time Therapeutic Respite Support Workers. Working to promote Bethesda’s vision and mission statement and quality client care, the Therapeutic Respite Support Worker will provide home and community-based support for children and youth with complex needs and their families. This position will report to the Manager of Children’s Services. Therapeutic Respite Support Workers will implement Behaviour Support Plans that are written and supervised by a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA).
Must be available to work Saturdays and a minimum of two (2) evenings per week.
Key Job Responsibilities
Implement Clinical Treatment Plan recommendations with clinical supervision.
Provide Therapeutic Respite Services in coordination with interdisciplinary team members and community partners.
Assist with the implementation of group based Respite Services.
Assist with the implementation of group based behaviour reduction services with clinical supervision.
Assist with the implementation of group based skill building intervention services with clinical supervision.
Support children/youth engaging in risk behaviour while remaining calm, neutral, and effectively using non-violent crisis intervention strategies.
Maintain client records and complete documentation as required.
Develop curriculum and resources for individual and group based recreational services.
Develop resources and program materials.
Investigate ideas and plan the integration of engaging community activities into service options.
Collaborate with Community Partners, and Interdisciplinary Team Members.
Provide Coaching and Support to CYS Team Members, and Students.
Actively participate in administrative team meetings.
Collect data.
Actively participate in team meetings and provide suggestions, creative ideas and recommendations for strengthen CYS
Comply with Bethesda policies and procedures relating to health and safety.
Responsible for reporting all health and safety concerns immediately following the Internal Responsibility System.
Perform administrative tasks as required including documentation and resource development.
QUALIFICATIONS:
College Diploma in Psychology, Autism and Behavioural Science, Developmental Services or a related field. A University degree is an asset.
Minimum of one year experience working with children/youth with developmental disabilities, autism or complex behavioural and /or mental health needs.
Knowledge and experience using Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) principals.
Experience working within a multi disciplinary team.
Proficient with Microsoft Office.
Valid Driver’s License.
First Aid Training and CPR Certification.
Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Certification.
Professional Communication Skills: professionally represents the company through strong communication skills, both oral and written.
Teamwork: excels at working with others and communicating with a team to provide the most effective support to clients.
Problem-Solving: able to navigate challenges and barriers, always looks for potential pitfalls and risks to help mitigate problems ahead of time, and knows when to ask for help.
Proactive: anticipates and solves problems and issues before they are brought to your attention.
Fluent in French is an asset.
