Description of the role

Bethesda’s Children’s Respite department requires relief respite workers to work in the Children’s Respite program. This position will involve working with children who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Interested applicants will be responsible for material development and assisting in the facilitation of a series of skill building groups for children diagnosed with ASD. These services will include after school programs, preschool groups and Saturday groups for children between the ages of 3-17.

Education Requirements
Qualifications As a member of the Children’s Outreach team you will possess a minimum of a College Diploma in a related field, a bachelor’s degree is preferred, and at least one (1) year of experience working with young children with a diagnosis of ASD. The successful candidate will possess excellent analytical and problem solving skills and will show a proven ability to work independently. Strong time management and demonstration of self-motivation in your work are essential. The successful candidate will show an ability to work professionally with parents and families. Current First Aid, CPR, and NVCI are required. Satisfactory disciplinary and attendance records are required. French/English bilingualism is an asset.
