Description of the role

Bethesda’s Adult Clinical Services requires one (1) Full Time Occupational Therapist. Working to promote Bethesda’s values, vision and mission statement and quality client care, the Occupational Therapist will work within an interdisciplinary team in the delivery of an integrated biopsychosocial model of services to provide occupational therapy services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Occupational Therapist will identify and assess adults with motor, perceptual and/or sensory impairments where Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Intellectual Disability (ID) and/or Developmental Disability (DD) is confirmed.

Key Responsibilities:
• Travel to complete assessments and treatment programming with clients throughout Hamilton & Niagara.
• Provide comprehensive assessments including: review of documentation, observations of the adult, administration of tests, scoring tests, analysis of data, and formulation of reports with recommendations and treatment strategies
• Responsible for conducting appropriate assessment and treatment as required for adults who have a confirmed diagnosis of a DD, ID, ASD and/or FASD. This could include, but may not be limited to environmental adaptations, sensory processing, and functional engagement
• Implementation of tele practice services for client’s within the community, which will include facilitation of virtual groups and educational workshops for clients, community agencies, Bethesda staff and/or caregivers
• Work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to provide client centered assessments and treatment planning
• Maintain client records and manage caseload data
• Assist and/or complete referrals to community agencies that may assist with treatment of the client as needed
• Inform and educate clients and/or caregivers of available resources and how they can be accessed
• Complete all required preparation modules and participate in continuing education for the College of Occupational Therapists of
Ontario (COTO) to maintain credentials
• Other duties as assigned
