During the webinar, questions came up from attendees about resources for gender diversity education in our sector; for both staff as well as the people we support. Below are some links on the subjects:
- Rainbow Health Ontario offers many training opportunities and resources to support staff to learn about the importance of inclusion and mental health for our LGBT2SQ communities
- The Canadian Centre for Gender & Sexual Diversity website is a great resource shared by our panelist Ty McNally
- Our Compass is a documentary film on persons with intellectual disabilities in the LGBT2SQ community
- Website for the agency on the Community Living Six Nations reserve where our panelist Shillene Dale works as Cultural Coordinator
- Baseball for Dad: Our panelist Louri Snider shared how important she feels it is for all staff to have a place they can talk about mental health. Louri shared with the Community of Practice that talking about mental health is a deeply passionate area for her, as she lost her son Mark to suicide in May 2019. Many heartfelt feelings came from the community through the chat function. Thank you Louri for sharing your story with the group. Here is the website Louri has created about mental health and suicide awareness in her son Mark’s name
