Description of the role

Full Time Accounting Specialist

Bethesda is currently recruiting for an Accounting Specialist.  This intermediate level position will be based in Thorold, Ontario.

Reporting to the Manager of Finance, the Accounting Specialist will perform accounting and bookkeeping duties across the organization and will ensure the accuracy of financial records and processes.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Maintain/manage/process accurate ledgers and complete financial transactions including month end journal entries, accruals, bank and monthly account reconciliations. This is not an exhaustive list
Prepare financial statements and reports by gathering and analyzing financial data
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes and accruals
Handle expense reimbursements
Assist with audits by providing necessary documentation and information
Running reports and completing variance analysis
Investigating unusual transactions and variances to ensure proper account and department selection
Ensuring all company finances comply with GAAP and/or Government of Ontario requirements
Assisting the Manager, Finance and accounting department in daily, monthly and annual activities

Education Requirements
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Accounting, or other related fields. A minimum of three to five years’ experience in an accounting/finance position. Demonstrated knowledge of accounting software such as QuickBooks. Proficient with Microsoft Office Valid Driver’s License
